Adaptations of the focal lens to various applications will offer tremendous possibilities, creating different engraving results with assorted resource media. | ||||||||||||
GCC LaserPro S290 offers two different sized lenses for more flexibility of applications. This issue of Application sharing will introduce two varied Lens specifications and how they differ in applications. | ||||||||||||
Please find below the experimentation results from the LaserPro application lab for a better perception of application results. | ||||||||||||

On stainless steel, two differed lens will create two varied engraving results. | ||||||||||||
A. Comparison by Spot size | ||||||||||||
S290 and CO2 Laser are similar in which their Spot sizes will change to match the different lenses used. 2” Lens and 4” Lens both offer different spot sizes. | ||||||||||||
The engraved results on metallic media are not easily differentiated by the human eye perception. Please refer to the following graphs where we used the magnifying glass and further assessed the engraved results by optical measure standards: the 2” Lens engraved spot sizes measured between 0.05~0.06mm, and the 4” Lens engraved 0.08~0.09mm respectively. | ||||||||||||

B. Compare by engraving depth | ||||||||||||
Here we use metal pieces with a width of 0.1mm for engraving; its results will distinguish and allow for comparisons of actual engraving depths. | ||||||||||||
With identical parameter settings, the 2” Lens will achieve deeper engraving results than the 4” Lens. The following graph also demonstrates that with the same given Speed of 1%, the 2” Lens can almost cut through the metallic piece, but the 4” Lens only managed to give a slight cutting mark. | ||||||||||||

The 2” Lens will engrave depths approximating to 0.1mm at a speed of 1%, but the 4” lens could only match the same depth result with a speed of 6% (Power set at 100%). | ||||||||||||
Slower speeds will generate even deeper engraving results, but please take caution with heat levels as it may cause possible damage to resource media. | ||||||||||||
C. Compare by the smallest text engraved | ||||||||||||
Conducting small text experiments and limiting between 1mm~0.1mm, aiming to test and find the smallest texts possible from using both 2” and 4” lenses. There is only a slight difference of texts between both lenses, the smallest recognizable text is 0.3mm, and is the same for both. The greatest different between both lenses being that 2” lens gives more refined texts than the 4”lens, the following graphic example further exemplifies this difference. | ||||||||||||

3.Application recommendations | ||||||||||||
